Sophia hated hospitals. She haste the bright white walls and the smell. No matter when she went everything smelt of medicine and death. It was almost as bad as the city morgue which she had visited more than she would have liked due to her job. And no to mention the coffee. Hospital coffee was some of the worst coffee she had ever had. It was almost enough to make her not want to drink the stuff. Almost. But this was part of her job waiting out her while her partner, Marcus Davies, interviewed the victim. Normally she would have come in, but due to the nature of the crime they had decided it would be best if only one of them went it to make things easier. She was going to volunteer, as she was a woman and would probably be the less threatening option but the young girl had asked for Marcus.
So here she was sitting the most uncomfortable chair she had ever had the displeasure to sit in while sipping on the worst coffee she had ever had, and yet she didn't envy Marcus. The nature of the assault had been pretty violent, and she was always worried when questioning victims that she would say the wrong thing. But it didn't mean she didn't feel completely useless sitting out here.
She had thought about going back to the station and working on her paperwork for the last couple days that she had been able to completely ignore, before remembering that if she left Marcus would have no ride, and it was too far for either of them to walk.
She watched as the nurses rushed around doing as many jobs as possible with smiles plastered on their faces, and occasionally directed towards her. They brought back memories of when she was a child the frequent visits to hospitals and doctor's appointment for her day until it finally ended, in a hospital not unlike this one.
She tried to shake the thoughts from her mind, she was on duty she could break down right now. It was her job to remain strong at least until justice was served. She just hoped that the victim's parents would show up before Marcus was done so that they wouldn't have to leave the teenager alone. She didn't think she would be able to do that. Even in a place as safe as a hospital it just wouldn't be fair to the girl. Sophia sat back and took another sip of her drink as she waited for Marcus to finish the questioning.
